Ben Walker (he/him)
Ben has served in the North Dakota Army National Guard for the past six years, including two deployments—one overseas, and one in the U.S. During his overseas deployment, Ben sustained life-changing injuries that continue to shape his perspective and commitment to accessibility and disability advocacy. Ben’s lived experience, both as a service member and as a caregiver for his partner with disabilities, has given him a deep understanding of the challenges and resilience within the disability community.
In addition to his military service, Ben currently works as a sheriff’s deputy while pursuing his degree in Criminal Justice. His experiences in both the military and law enforcement give him a unique perspective on the intersections of disability, justice, and public service. Within the Disability Alliance of North Dakota, he contributes to operations and veterans outreach, helping to ensure that the voices of disabled service members like him, caregivers, and justice-impacted individuals are part of statewide advocacy efforts.
Outside of his professional and academic commitments, Ben enjoys playing video games (especially Old School RuneScape), watching anything with Gordon Ramsay, and spending time with his partner and four cats.
