Sam Walker (they/them)
Sam Walker (they/them) is the founder and executive director for the Disability Alliance of North Dakota. As a disabled person and disability advocate, Sam created the Alliance to build a stronger, more inclusive network for people with disabilities across the state.
Originally from California, Sam brings both lived experience and professional training to their work in disability advocacy. They are currently pursuing their Master’s in Social Work degree with a specialization in multicultural clinical practice, preparing to serve disabled communities with both passion and systemic insight.
As a disabled advocate living with chronic illnesses and neurodivergence, Sam knows firsthand the many barriers that many North Dakotans face. Their vision for the alliance is rooted in accessibility, dignity, and equity - ensuring that every disabled person has the opportunity to thrive, be heard, be supported, and build community.
Beyond their professional role, Sam enjoys playing video games alone or with friends, watching TV shows, spending time with their partner, and caring for their four cats. They believe joy, rest, and community are essential to sustaining long-term advocacy and change… and that disabled joy is an act of rebellion against ableist systems.
